Road To Recovery

This is an infographic I use often in my clinic. It took me years of thinking about how and why and was a pain to put together. The original idea was the old children’s game “Chutes and Ladders” with the concept being:

WHEN YOU DO THINGS IN THE INCORRECT ORDER YOU TEND TO SLIDE BACKWARDS IN YOUR HEALTH.

as well as

WHEN YOU GIVE YOURELF A BETTER FOUNDATION YOU BUILD A BETTER BODY (PYRAMID).

My lecture on this infographic can easily go an hour but I think you can get the gist of it with just a brief look over the picture.

Think of a client in my chiropractic clinic on their first day. Sometimes in so much pain they can hardly get out of bed in the morning. Yet, they will often ask, “What are the exercises I need to do to fix this?” They aren’t there yet.

We’re so quick in the rehab world to dive immediately into exercises for strength or flexibility. Often that is a poor order of execution. Put the fire out first, fix the imbalance. Move correctly before you start on strength etc.
